Instrument Armor

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Since I mentioned last month that I am working on some projects of my own, I have been hard at work putting together some projects of my own.  Yes, that sentence seemed redundant, but in actuality, it was consistent.  I’d like to introduce, Instrument Armor.  I am officially launching it April 2, 2010 but the [...]

A Great Example of Sound Personal Economics

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

I recently started reading a book called I Will Teach You to be Rich by Ramit Sethi. A friend of a friend recommended it, and since I used to be a “financial professional” I wanted to see what this supposed hot new author had to say. He has a lot of good ideas, and I think the book will speak to a financially unsavvy generation of 20-somethings that do really have any habits of restraint and frugality. For others that already have a working plan, it is a lot of stuff you may already know. The only real value I got out of the book was the couple of chapters on what Ramit does to automate his budgeting, saving, and bill paying with online banking systems. It really simplifies things and I have found a lot of free time each week now that certain things are automated. I do follow some of his Twitter and Blog posts and found a really great case study. I am always inspired by entrepreneurs that follow their own path and do what it takes to leverage their own talents to make a living and not be chained to a desk (unless that is what they want).

Web Marketing Snake Oil

Monday, January 19th, 2009

I am so surprised at the incredible amount of enthusiasm about SEO with every new or prospective client I have spoken with in the last 6 months.  In these “tough economic times” EVERYONE is wanting to be more conservative with their business budgets, and more effective with their advertising dollars.  So they will bring in [...]

Mousetrap 2.0

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

“If a man can write a better book, preach a better sermon, or make a better mousetrap, than his neighbor, though he build his house in the woods, the world will make a beaten path to his door.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson I can’t help but think that either times were different when Emerson held [...]

A Hole In Your Head

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

When clients meet with me or one of my associates about putting together a website and promoting it for their company we are often asked, “how much does SEO cost?” From there the client will usually pull out a bid they got from another developer and it will read something along the lines of: Logo [...]

More On Automating Your Sales System

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Over the last month I have received a lot of questions (and a couple clients) from my April 30th entry titled What Is Your Sales System? Several have emailed me asking for other examples of what to do if you have an actual product. To clarify, I wrote about helping a few clients of mine [...]

What Is Your Sales System?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

The above video demonstrates a beautiful example of what is called a Rube Goldberg machine. It is essentially a complex mechanism that produces the completion of a very simple task. In this case a platform with a minivan on it wound up tilting to let the minivan onto the ground. For most purposes this type [...]

Do You Know Your Customers' Buying Rituals?

Monday, March 31st, 2008

One thing I have learned by watching the behavior of buying customers on my websites, is the patterns that they develop. Once in a while there will be a visitor that clicks their way directly to what they want, and makes their desired purchase. This is a rare behavior that indicates one thing; this visitor [...]

An Aspiring Graphics Designer

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

A good friend of mine had his sister call me for career advice today. He knows that I am in the “website business” and his sister is finishing design school with an emphasis in web design and layout. She wanted my take on how to best break in and have a successful career. It was [...]
